During the last General Assembly of the Council of Bureaux it was decided to suspend the membership of the Iranian Bureau in the Green Card system as of 1st January 2024.

For this reason, the Green Card certificates issued under the control of NBBMI will be valid for the territory of Iran until December 31, 2023. As of 1st January 2022, the Iranian border control authorities will no longer accept Green Card certificates. Frontier insurance will be necessary to enter Iran.

Vehicles with Iranian plates should be allowed to enter the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria only after purchasing "Frontier Insurance".

The Green card certificates with validity date after 1st January 2024 should be issued with the box ‘IR’ crossed out.
